Gummy Bear Experiment
The Gummy Bear experiment that we did in September was very fun and interesting. In the experiment we had to put a Gummy Bear in Seltzer water over night and had to see what happened to it. What happened was that the Gummy Bear turned into Jello and it was very slimy and soft. I though that the Gummy Bear was going to shrink but it didn't it grew larger and the color grew lighter as well. This experiment was probably the funnest experiment I have done so far this year.

Symbiosis
This past week in science we were learning about symbiosis. Symbiosis is a close relationship between two organisms in which one organism lives near, on, or even inside another organism and which at least one organism benefits. There are three different types of symbiosis. There is commensalism, parasitism, and mutualism. Commensalism is a form of symbiosis when one organism benefits and the other is not harmed. Parasitism is a form of symbiosis in which one organism benefits and the other is harmed. Mutualism is a form of symbiosis in which both organisms benefit. An example of commensalism is moss and a tree. An example of parasitism is a flea and a dog. An example of mutualism is a honey bee and a flower.
My Symbiosis Relationship
My symbiosis relationship is moss and a tree. My picture of moss on a tree was taken on the side of Crossroads South Middle School. It is an example of commensalism because only the moss benefits. The moss benefits because it needs moisture and sunlight to survive. Also, because it needs to now that it can obtain enough water and nutrients from the tree. Finally, this an example of commensalism because commensalism is when one organism benefits and the other organism is not harmed. That is what happened with the tree and the moss the moss benefited and the tree is not harmed.

Martialis Huereka

Scientist discovered a new species of ants in Brazil. The insects have no eyes, its body is pale, and the mouth is bigger then its whole head. Because of the Martialis huereka researchers rethink about the history of ants. Martialis huerekas DNA shows that it is distantly related to any other ant species. Its so distant that i should be in another subfamily. Also, scientist say that the Martialis huereka is from the earliest ant family. They also found out that it lives underground and that can explain why they are blind and pale. Finally, scientist are now finding out if ants first evolved underground.

Global Warming Thretaning Tropics
The tropical plants and animals might be facing a bigger threat then the polar regions. Robert K. Colwell said that the tropics is already a hot how could global warming harm tropical species?
So Robert K. Colwell explained that some tropical species are living near there maximum temperature. Robert K. Colwell researched that the temperature 5.8 degrees Fahrenheit. Tropic species with small range would have to shift thousands of kilometers north or south. Warm climates have already scrammbled small mammals in Yosemite National Park. For some high elevated mammals like alpine chimpmunks have shrunk. However, mammals living at low elevation, like harvest mouse they have expanded their ranges in higher reaches. As you can see global warming is changing our world upside down.
